By now you have probably heard of this product, either on a commercial or from a friend. It is the best way to get goal-worthy lashes. Just Googling the name will bring endless results of envy-inducing lashes. So, let’s spill the tea.
What is it?
Latisse is the only FDA-approved treatment for people with inadequate or not enough lashes. The active ingredient is called Bimatoprost, a prostaglandin analogue, originally developed as a glaucoma medication for people with high eye pressure. The patients using it noticed that a side effect of their medication was longer eye lashes, and Latisse was born. It is believed to work by keeping your eyelashes in the growth phase longer.
How to Use
Latisse is a simple, quick topical application. Every evening, you dip or drop the medicine onto your brush and apply it to the base of your upper eyelid, much like you would liquid eyeliner. Full results can take up to 16 weeks. After you get full results, you can apply the drop every other night as maintenance. However, it is not permanent. Once you stop use your eyelashes will return to normal.
Side Effects
There are possible mild side effects. These include eyelid redness, itching or drying of the eyelid, eyelid darkening, and darkening of the colored part of the eye. All of these will either stop or be reversed with discontinued use.
