Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a solution that causes dead skin layers to slough and eventually peel away. This restores the skin’s surface, making it smoother, more radiant and significantly improves tone.

At Boss Gal, we use only medical grade chemical peels. These are different from other peels as they have a higher concentration of active acids that are not available to non-medical facilities.

We offer one of the widest selections of chemical peels in Columbus, Ohio. We offer 15 different customizable chemical peels from ZO Skin Health and Vitality Institute (VI) . If you are new to chemical peels or feel unsure which peel is right for you, book one of our light peels. At your appointment, we can discuss your desired results along with your previous experiences with chemical peels to ensure you are matched up with the best available option.

While you will see improvements after one treatment, it is recommended to have peels done in a series of three over a three month time period for a marked improvement in skin texture and tone. Chemical peels are one of the most effective ways to improve your skin texture.

Peeling is a possible side effect of a treatment but is not always required to see great results.

Your esthetician will work with you to determine which chemical peel formula is right for your needs.

Come to the office with a clean face, without any makeup. The chemical peel solution is applied directly to the facial skin and left on for a period of time. The chemical peel is carefully removed and skin is moisturized to help minimize side effects. A hand-held fan and ice water-soaked gauze are provided for increased comfort.

Side effects can vary depending on the chemical peel formula. However, most patients can expect to see redness, peeling, and flaking. More aggressive chemical peels will lead to intense peeling and flaking for the first two weeks after the initial treatment. It’s important for patients to wear sunscreen and to stay out of the sun in the weeks after their peel.

Results can vary, depending on the strength of the chemical peel. For mild formulas, results can be seen as quickly as two to three weeks. Many people will return periodically for routine glycolic acid peels to maintain rejuvenated skin. For stronger, more aggressive formulas, patients may not see final results until four months after the initial treatment as the collagen remodels, though the brown spots tend to flake away after 1-2 weeks.
