Every year on March 8th we take the day to honor women’s achievements and advocate for gender equality. Women’s Day is about looking forward to a future where every woman and girl has the opportunity, freedom, platform, and resources to realize their full potential. On this International Women’s Day, we want to shine a spotlight on one of the most inspiring and successful women entrepreneurs in Columbus, Ohio: Kathy Keeney, the owner and founder of Boss Gal Beauty Bar.
Her passion has always been to help women achieve their best skin to instill the confidence to take on anything in their lives, bringing out their inner Boss Gal. Kathy’s journey to becoming a Boss Gal started with her passion for the beauty industry and her extensive medical knowledge as a registered nurse. She knew she wanted to be a nurse injector but didn’t know how to get into the field. Instead of waiting for someone else to give her a chance, she invested in her own training and opened her spa in 2017.
Since then, Kathy has grown her business from one location to four and has become one of the most sought-after nurse injectors in Ohio, with clients driving from all over the state to be injected by her or one of her employees. Last year, Kathy became a National Trainer for both Allergan and Galderma and is the only injector in Ohio who is a trainer for both companies. She is also a member of the American Medical Spa Association and the American Academy of Facial Aesthetics. She has won several awards, such as Top Workplace from Columbus CEO Magazine, and was also featured in Vanity Fair and Vogue Magazines in 2023 for being an Influential Woman in Business. This year, she started her own training academy for medical providers wanting to start their aesthetic journey, called The Balanced Face Institute.
Kathy has been breaking industry standards since the beginning, such as having an open-concept facial bar and her Beauty Bank Membership for her clients. She is passionate about education and making sure all of her providers are up to date on current trends and treatments. She has trained and mentored every nurse injector at her spas and has flown around the country for specialized pieces of training to bring back to them. Kathy loves celebrating the successes of her injectors and skin bosses and making them feel confident and empowered within their craft.
Kathy is not only a Boss Gal, but also a wife and mother. She balances work and family life with grace and determination and always finds time to give back to the community. She supports various causes such as Thriving Beyond Breast Cancer, the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio, and Yes (Young Executives for Success!) Columbus.
We are proud to celebrate Kathy as an example of a woman who has achieved her dreams and empowered others along the way. She is a true Boss Gal and we can’t wait to see what she does next! Happy International Women’s Day, Kathy!
