Sculptra: Not Just Another Filler

Have you noticed that some of your friends or colleagues look amazing, but you can’t pinpoint exactly what they’ve done? Their skin is glowing, and they look refreshed and more youthful. Well, chances are they have the Sculptra Glow! If you’ve been feeling like your skin is looking sluggish, tired, and dull, Sculptra may be the pick-me-up your skin is looking for!

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved biostimulator injectable filler that helps stimulate your natural collagen production to smooth facial wrinkles, reverse volume loss, and improve skin tightness and quality, revealing a refreshed-looking you. Sculptra is a gel-like substance made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), and your provider will inject it under the skin where you want a fuller or smoother appearance. PLLA is a collagen stimulator that absorbs into your body a few days after treatment to encourage collagen production.

Collagen is a protein that provides structure, support, and strength to our skin. After age 20, we lose about 1% of collagen a year; by age 45, we lose up to 25%! This makes Sculptra great for anyone with skin, as our owner, Kathy Keeney, says!

How Does it Work?

After consulting with one of our Nurse Injectors and snapping a few photos, you will receive a minimum of two vials. Then, you’ll schedule a follow-up treatment in five weeks to receive two more vials. Unlike dermal filler, Sculptra is a gradual process as your body reacts to it and begins to supercharge its collagen production. It’s important to understand that it can take up to six weeks before you start noticing changes in your skin, but the results are worth the wait.

What Should I Expect Post-Treatment?

After your treatment, you’ll be able to get right back to your routine with only a few recommendations for a few days after your service. We ask you to massage the injection site for five minutes five different times a day. These massages further ensure that the PLLA is fully distributed. Some common side effects may include redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site, but these are usually mild and temporary.

After about a month or so, you may notice that your skin is fuller or plumper and has a smoother, more youthful texture and glow. As collagen fibers develop over the next few months, your skin’s structure may lift, which can help with sagging skin around your jawline, under the eye area, and nasal labial folds.
