Guide to Sunscreen

It’s no secret that sunscreen is a key step in your skincare routine. You’ve probably heard it preached, but don’t know all the details! We’ve created a simple guide to help you learn about sunscreen and why it’s so important.

What is SPF?

SPF stands for sun protection factor. This is a measure of how well the sunscreen will protect your skin from UVB rays – the suns rays that are most damaging to our skin. Experts recommend using SPF 30, which prevents up to 97% of UVB rays from reaching your skin.

Do I need broad spectrum SPF?

The short answer – yes!

While a regular SPF protects against UVB rays, you will need a broad spectrum SPF to protect against UVA rays. This is especially important, as UVA rays affect skin beneath the surface and cause damage on a deeper level. You should always opt for a broad spectrum sunscreen, as both types of rays cause skin damage, early aging, and skin cancer.

Do I need to wear it everyday?

Yes, you do! Even if it is an overcast cloudy day, sunscreen is important. UV rays can cause skin damage through clouds, and even windows. By adding sunscreen into your morning skincare routine, it will become normal and easy to apply sunscreen everyday. If you are spending all day outside, we recommend reapplying every two hours.

If you are serious about your skin, you’ll be wearing sunscreen everyday. You can use the same type of sunscreen on your face and body, but some people prefer a face specific sunscreen to avoid greasiness. Continual use of sunscreen will pay off, preventing skin damage and even skin cancer.
